The Strauss Company has been chosen to build Chattanooga's new McKamey Animal Care and Adoption facility. Located at 4500 North Access road in Hixson, the 23,000 square foot facility was designed by Franklin Associate Architects.
The facility, which is set in a park-like setting, will feature indoor/outdoor runs for dogs, rooms which can be used to introduce pets to potential owners and evaluate animal behavior, as well as veterinary facilities and an education classroom for community seminars.
The Strauss Company was selected for the project based upon its past experience in animal care facilities. Mark Brakefield, field superintendent for the construction, has served as a superintendent with the Strauss Company for more than thirteen years. During this time, Brakefield has completed retail, medical and industrial projects as well as two veterinary clinics - Emergency Animal (R.I.V.E.R.) on Amnicola Highway and the Animal Clinic East on Gunbarrel Road.
